Stewardship

What  Is  Stewardship?

  • Christian stewardship is a way of living in which we recognize that everything belongs to God. All resources must be used for His glory and the common good.
  • Stewardship is about making choices, as individuals and in community. It is more than giving money to the church. Stewardship is about being faithful disciples, caring for and managing all that God has given us.
  • Stewardship is not just one part of Christian discipleship; it involves every aspect of life in all the stages of life.
  • Stewardship is the grateful response to God's grace and goodness. It requires a consideration of how our choices affect us and others, of how we can be good caretakers of the created world, and of how we can best serve God as disciples of Christ.

Do you have an "Excellent Spirit"?

  • God created you for excellence and to be excellent. (Psalm 16:3)
  • Promotion comes to those with an excellent spirit (Daniel 6:3)
  • Excellence must be approved (Romans 2:18; Phil 1:10)

Some Characteristics of an Excellent Spirit ...

1. Accomplishes the most with the resources they have been entrusted
2. Quality is a constant issue and is continually improving
3. Does not compete with others but strives to improve on their "personal best". When you compare yourself to others you can:

a) set the bar too high;

b) get yourself off course of what you were called to do; and,

c) set the bar too low

4. Recognizes yesterday's excellence is today's mediocrity
5. Does not confuse perfectionism with constant improvement
6. Recognizes the importance of details
7. Has an obvious lifestyle: on time, focused, keeps their word, disciplined
