Drama and Dance Ministry

The Drama and Dance Ministry performs dramatic presentations and liturgical dance for special occasions and at various times during the worship hour. The Drama and Dance Ministry is open to all genders and ages five to twenty-five (5-25).

Healthcare Ministry

The purpose of the Healthcare Ministry at Mount Vernon Baptist Church is to help the members and congregation attain, maintain and/or regain the best possible level of wellness of body, mind and spirit.

The goals of this Healthcare Ministry are to:

• ensure the safety and well-being of the children and youth of Mount Vernon Baptist Church;
• increase the quality and years of healthy living of our entire congregation by helping to prevent illness and injury, thus protecting, promoting and optimizing wellness;
• introduce wellness programs in support of the Pastor's ministry of Christian growth; and
• collaborate with various community health agencies in an effort to offer and provide supportive health care services to our congregation and community.

Media Ministry

The Mt. Vernon Media Ministry believes in a "church without walls." To that end, this ministry seeks to translate God's love into the more tangible terms of our community's needs. We provide DVD's and CD's of Mt. Vernon services to anyone upon request. Whether you live in Durham, across the state or across the country, you can order a copy of any of our services by contacting the church office or the Media Ministry office.  The ministry delights in being able to provide copies of worship services immediately after the close of service. It's especially gratifying to offer videos and CD's to sick and shut-in members who are unable to attend our various services. This ministry is fulfilling a vital and important need in our church. To God be the glory!

Men's Ministry

The mission of the Mount Vernon Baptist Church Men's Ministry is to prepare men to be effective witnesses for God in all areas of their lives. We endeavor to take the teaching of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior; to the community manifesting these through our acts, our works and our deeds.

The Goals and Objectives of the Men's Ministry are as follows:

• To encourage and offer all men of Mount Vernon Baptist Church an opportunity to take an active role in Christian Ministry.
• To teach men the way of the righteous walk (Luke 10:26-37; Proverb 28:1; Isaiah 32:17)
• To teach men to follow the commandment of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. (John 13:34)
• To give a Forum for men to address contemporary issues in their lives.
• To go into the community and compel men to come to the Lord.
• To be exemplary role models of Christian manhood to the community, younger generations, our families and our church.

Missionary Ministry

The mission of The Missionary Ministry of Mount Vernon Baptist Church is to study God's word, show God's love, proclaim the "good news," support missionary stewardship through self-denial contributions, and win souls to Christ by word and deed. Membership is open to all members of the Church, male and female, regardless of age. The Missionary Ministry consists of the following groups:

• Intermediate Missionaries
• Youth Missionaries

Music Ministry

The Music Ministry shares the Gospel of Jesus Christ through song, encourages believers in their walk with Christ, leads the congregation in worship, and provides an avenue through which individuals may share their gifts and talents. Membership is open to all members of the Church who enjoy singing and praising the Lord in song and who are willing to attend choir rehearsals and other engagements.

Single's Ministry

The Single's Ministry is open to any unmarried member of the Church. Its mission is to bring unmarried individuals into a saving and redemptive relationship as disciples of Christ and to enrich the lives of singles through regular prayer, Bible study, seminars, and other activities.

Women's Ministry: Daughters of the King

Daughters of the King is the name of Mount Vernon's Women's Ministry. The mission of the Women's Ministry is to reach, teach, touch, and nurture the women of Mount Vernon Baptist Church and the community so that they will come to know the power of Jesus Christ, develop Christian maturity, and serve through interaction with God, His Word, and each other. Any female member of the Church may participate in Daughters of the King.

Youth Ministry

At Mount Vernon, youth are inspired to build a ministry with a Christ-centered community of youth who are dedicated to challenging and encouraging each other to live faithful lives for Jesus Christ. Our goal is to pursue a deeper and closer relationship with Jesus Christ by participating in: Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry and Service.
