Is America A Chosen Nation?

The former Govenor of Alaska Sarah Palin and many other conservatives assert that "God has granted America a special role in human history."  They believe that this is why America  is "under attack" by liberals who downplay America's "God-given" distinctiveness.

Do you believe that  these leaders are correct in saying that America has a special relationship with God?

What do you think?

What (or where, or why) is heaven?

What is your vision of heaven? What images - from the Holy Bible,  tradition, culture or your personal experience - best describes what  heaven is for you?

Weapons in Worship

Weapons in Worship

Recently, some New York-area rabbis are planning to bring weapons to High Holy Day services this month to guard against terrorist threats. In June 2009, a Kentucky pastor invited his congregation members to bring their firearms to church to celebrate the Second Amendment.

Do weapons belong in worship? Should clergy be armed? Do the Ten Commandments trump the Second Amendment?

Peacemaker or Peacekeeper? Sunday, April 18, 2010

Blessed are the peacemakers,  for they will be called sons of God. (Matt 5:9, NIV)

Being a peacemaker is not the same as being a peacekeeper. Making peace does not mean you try to keep everybody happy. A peacemaker does not say yes to everybody and everything. A peacemaker builds their character on truth and righteousness. We can create true peace if we are at peace with God. Peacemakers are also those who try to make peace even if they fail.

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday is a high and holy day in the life of the Christian church.  It is the day we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Savior from the dead.  This Easter's sermon will be preached from the passage written by the Apostle Paul.  The Apostle states,  "that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures."  (1 Corinthians 15:4 NIV).  What does this passage mean to you?

Welcome To My Blog

I hope this Blog will be interactive and spark questions regarding the Sunday Sermon, a Bible lesson, a Sunday School lesson, or specific topics on Christian Living. I hope it will change from week to week and it will be open to all.
